Hi Everyone,
I talk about my hair care stuff all the time but every time I post a pic of mine someone or the other always requests for a hair care routine post. I am quite flattered, honestly. Hahha!! So there you go. Everything product shown in this post is reviewed on IMBB. I have linked the titles to their respective reviews for your ease.
A little about my hair. I have naturally dark black straight hair. My mom has beautiful black straight hair. I got it from her. My hair is slightly on the drier side so my focus is always on adding moisture to my hair.
Some of the products shown in this post are purchased from Sephora. So you might not find them in your city. Sorry. But please go ahead an use IMBB Search option. You’d def find products that would suit your hair type.
Hope you enjoy reading the post.
L’occitane shampoo and conditioner : After trying out various shampoos and conditioners and I have come to the conclusion that NOTHING works better for my hair. I also use the hair mask by L’occitane sometimes and that also works great for my hair.
Ouidad Moisture Lock Leave in Conditioner : I use this for lazy days. Good stuff.
Ouidad 12 minute Intensive Treatment : I use it every second Sunday and I quite like how soft it makes my hair. Plus it’s just 12 minute thing so I like it even more.
Percy and Reed Serum : Don’t like it but I use it since I have it. I think I’d pick up the Kerastase one again.
Tangle Teezer : best thing ever for hair!
These are all the hair sprays and some stuff that add texture to my hair.
Enliven Hold Spray : No brainer. It’s okay. It does not have a very strong hold but it works for me. I personally don’t like hair sprays with super strong hold.
Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray : Obsessed. Totally love it.
Oscar Blandi Texture and Heat Protectant Spray : Both of them are good. But I think I’d go back to my Kerastase heat protectant cream. I find that quite satisfying to use than using a heat protectant spray. But nevertheless, I like both these products. Especially the texturizing spray is really good.
L’oreal Dry Shampoo : I am someone who washes her hair every 3 days so this is a rarely used product but comes in handy on days when I am lazy.
I oil my hair only twice a month. Someone at the salon told me that if you oil your hair every time before washing, you’d have to use as much shampoo (read chemicals) to get rid of the oil. I use whatever oil is handy – Figaro olive oil, Kama Ayurvedic hair oil, Biobloom Ayurvedic oil or Forest Essentials Hair oil. If you can, I think organic coconut oil is excellent. Unfortunately I can’t use it since I am allergic to the smell.
I use apple cider vinegar concoction as a clarifying agent for my scalp once a month. You can make one at home as mentioned HERE
Regarding things I’d get at the salon. I’d get a hair spa done may be once in two months. I’d like to do once in a month but I am lazy..I absolutely love a good blow dry at a salon. I’d quite often just go an get a blow dry done. Other than that it’s only the hair cut that I regularly get every 2-3 months. I tried keratin treatment once but I don’t have a heart to get it done again. I was scared to death seeing the insane amount of torture my hair went through during that keratin treatment. All that freakin’ smelly smoke that was coming out because of excess flat-ironing..it was scary. If it works for you, by all means do it. I am quite a chicken when it comes to trying out stuff for my hair. So…
Regarding the tools I use..I use both the tools from Philips that you have seen HERE.
I’d just like to mention that these are just the products that work for me and they may not necessarily work for you. But these are all good products. I suggest that you should be open to trying out new products and you would eventually find out things that work fabulously for you. For instance the Moroccan Oil range was a fail for me but it works great on a lot of people. So don’t be scared. Read the reviews, and try out things. It helps.
