Hi Everyone!

People who love henna have different hair henna recipes. They also tend to mix some natural ingredients with henna before applying it on the hair. Different people follow different recipes depending on the needs of their individual type of hair. Though, many of the henna powders do come with super beneficial natural ingredients, still some of us always tend to add our own favourite natural ingredient. I have been applying Shahnaz Hussain’s Henna Precious Herb Mix since a long time and it works well for me. Today, I will be sharing a few of the natural ingredients that can be mixed with the hair henna powder. Here is the list and their benefits.

Natural Ingredients To Mix With Hair Henna Powder

Brewed Tea or Coffee:

I always like mixing henna with brewed tea or coffee instead of water. Mixing it with brewed coffee or tea adds a tint of color brown to your hair naturally. The result of the color brown varies from hair to hair depending on the already existing shade of your hair color. Strongly brewed coffee or tea stains your hair and gives your hair a beautiful darker shade of brown.

Beetroot:

If you are among those ladies, who love coloring their hair but fear the negative side effects of chemicals used in the hair color and opt only henna for natural hair coloring. Then, beetroot is the appropriate ingredient to go with. Add some grated beetroot to hot boiling water kept on a burning stove and let it boil till the amount of water reduces to half. After it cools, blend both the beetroot and the same boiled water that has cooled into a thick liquid consistency. Finally, add the mixture to henna.

Egg White:

This is something that I do not skip before applying the henna mixture to hair. I absolutely love the results of egg white that they gives to my hair. It naturally conditions my hair deeply and makes it look healthier and silkier like never before. I always break the smaller end of an egg to extract only the egg white and not the yolk. The quantity of egg white depends on the length of your hair. I have medium length hair so I always use two egg whites each time.

Lemon Juice:

It is believed that when you add something sour to henna mixture like lemon juice, it releases dye. Henna attains best dye release with lemon juice as it acidic in nature. Deep red henna will look more burgundy because of the acidic nature of lemon. Also, it is the best remedy for hair problem like dandruff. Lemon juice makes the hair follicles healthly and helps maintain the scalp in good condition by avoiding dandruff to appear.

Hibiscus Flower Powder:

Hibiscus powder is obtained by crushing the red flower petals of hibiscus plant. It helps in boosting the red tones in henna mixture. This powder is easily available in market these days and you can instantly add it to your henna mixture before application. It helps and aims in reducing hair loss and tends to strengthen the hair.

Amla Powder:

If you wish to receive the goodness of henna after application and not the color then you can opt to go with amla powder in your henna mixture. It reduces the red and brown undertones of your henna hair color. It also naturally conditions the hair and provides volume to your hair.

Olive Oil:

Many experts believe that henna tends to make hair dry and frizzy. But, you can still enjoy receiving the benefits of henna by adding this natural ingredient, olive oil in your mixture. It has incredible benefits for your hair. It conditions the hair deeply and avoids the hair to become dry after the application of henna.

Fenugreek Seeds Paste:

You can soak some fenugreek seeds in water, a night before you wish to apply henna. Then, grind the seeds into a thick paste. Mix it into henna the next day, before application. Fenugreek seeds, also known as methi dana is a rich source of protein. It helps in controlling hair fall and cures scalp infections.

So, that is it. Do let me know about the recipe you follow for henna application. I keep trying different natural ingredients with my henna mixture and would also like to hear from you guys about, that one favourite natural ingredient that works best for you with henna powder. Until then, keep caring for your hair and just look gorgeous hamesha!
