Matrix Biolage Oil Therapie Nourishing Oil Shampoo

By Silpa Abhilash

HELLOO,,, this is my first review for IMBB.. I have been following it for a while.

Ever since I moved to Delhi, my usually well behaved hair has gone all wild constant hair fall, frizziness split ends argh argh …. I came across an article about the side effects of sls, sles and parabens and decided to use shampoos without these. For the past nine months I have been using forest essentials, nirwana wellness and aroma magic. But I kind of got bored and decided to try something different and stumbled up on matrix Biolage Oil Therapie Nourishing Oil Shampoo. Though I have used the biolage range I haven’t used this one.

Matrix BiolageOil Therapie Matrix Biolage Oil Therapie Nourishing Oil Shampoo Review

My take on Matrix Biolage Oil Therapie Nourishing Oil Shampoo

The shampoo comes in the signature green bottle of the biolage oil therapy line. The line has a shampoo, conditioner, nourishing oil and spa crème(hair mask). The shampoo looks very mild, not sure why it has very pleasant mild smell (maybe coconutty) Well those of who are from Delhi knows how bad the water here is. Skipping a conditioner isn’t an option here. Usually once I shampoo my hair it feels very rough and dry and you know tangles, something which is fixed when I use a conditioner. But this shampoo, well it worked wonders. I mean after using it my hair were super soft, smooth and had no tangles even before I used a conditioner and my hair felt squeaky clean. I usually follow it up with my aragn oil conditioner. And after a long time I can say I am in love with my hair. Its super soft to touch and I did not notice any frizziness. I wanted to try it without conditioner and was amazed to see it still worked. Though my hair felt a little dry (maybe because of hard water here) but it was not something that could not be fixed with my regular serum.

Also I wanted to see how effective it is in removing oil, so I oiled my hair and well it did remove the oil however the amount required was little more than usual. It could be because I use a lot of oil and I have long hair. Moreover I had used cantharidine oil (which is also reviewed in IMBB and I started using it after I read the review ) which is little sticky when compared to our normal oil.

Boots Beer and Egg Intensive Hair Treatment

Hello Everyone,

After a mini break I am back with another pretty stuff from Boots. I have a tendency to pick up random stuff for makeup and beauty and this purchase was one such random pick. We all know the benefits of flat beer and egg on hair. When I saw them come together I had to pick it up. It says “weightless” hair which gave me the feel that this is going to add volume to the hair.

The mask comes in a plastic tub packaging. The body is transparent plastic and the lid is solid color of the mask that is inside, which is yellow in this case. There are two stickers on the body, one with the name and the picture and the other with the directions, ingredients etc.

Price: Rs. 250/-(approx) for 400ml

My experience with Boots Beer and Egg Intensive Hair Treatment:

I keep on trying new products on my hair which has good, not-so-good and bad effects on my hair. But the drugstores abroad are so tempting and they have such awesome offers that it is hard to resist. I picked up quite a few stuff from Boots and this is one of them.

The mask is a thick cream which is light yellow in color. It is not at all runny and you can control the amount of product. The smell is strong but not bothersome. I believe I am getting used to the smell. You need a spoonful of the product to show results.

Boots Beer Egg Intesive Hair Treatment 2 Boots Beer and Egg Intensive Hair Treatment Review

I use this mask once or twice a week after shampooing and leave on for 5-10 mins and then wash off thoroughly. Normal air dry my hair and I am left with voluminous hair. I have frizzy hair and I always look for products that tame them. But this is something that gives me weightless and voluminous hair.

Homemade Volumizing Hair Masks

These days you can come across hundreds of products available in the market to add volume to flat and limp hair. They give us the temporary satisfaction but, if you want long term results then nothing works better than the age old home remedies.

Mentioned below are few such remedies to add that much desired volume to your hair.

Loreal X-Tenso Care Intense Nutri-Reconstructor Masque

Hello ladies,
I have straightened my hair permanently for the second time this year and have been facing severe hair breakage problem leading to excessive hair fall. When I asked my hair stylist he suggested me this masque which I had to buy as there was no other option. Here goes the review:

Loreal X Tenso Care Intense Loreal X Tenso Care Intense Nutri Reconstructor Masque Review

Shelf life: 1 year

Product Claims: GB X-tenso Care intensive nutria-reconstructor masque with anti-breakage and anti-dryness action, deeply nourishes, softens and reinforces hair fiber to optimize the result of straightening or relaxing process of X-Tenso Moisturist.

Result: Hair is as if rebuild, deeply nourished, with controlled volume.

Direction for use: Apply on clean towel dried hair. Gently massage from lengths to tips. Leave for 3 to 5 minutes. Rinse thoroughly. In case of contact with the eyes, rinse immediately. Keep out of reach of children.

LorealX Tenso Care Intense Loreal X Tenso Care Intense Nutri Reconstructor Masque Review

My experience with Loreal X-Tenso Intense Nutri-Reconstructor Masque:

Actually I straightened my hair along with my bestie and soon after straightening we encountered with the same problems i.e. hair breakage, hair fall, dryness and what not. So the stylist suggested us this product and we ended up buying it and we both experienced the same result.

The masque is in white and creamy form and has a mild fragrance. It comes in an opaque tub packaging which is very convenient to use and carry, also it requires a considerably small amount so it can go a long way.
Now coming to the real thingy, whether it served my purpose of buying it? NO.

As I said earlier me and my friend we both were facing severe hair fall due to breakage and this product did absolutely nothing. Instead I feel it made the situation worse as both during the application of the product and after it I witnessed severe hair fall. My hair just came out in huge amount both at the time of washing it off and after drying my hair. But the product did add some moisture to my hair and made it soft which we can expect from any other conditioners in the market so why buy this dud? The control of volume part was also untrue. So the end result is absolute dissatisfaction.

Loreal X TensoCare Loreal X Tenso Care Intense Nutri Reconstructor Masque Review

Pros of Loreal X-Tenso Care Intense Nutri-Reconstructor Masque:

• Deeply conditioned my hair and made it soft
• Sturdy packaging
• Requires a small amount

Cons of Loreal X-Tenso Care Intense Nutri-Reconstructor Masque:

• Increased my hair fall problem
• Didn’t give any volume to my hair
• Expensive
• Loaded with chemicals (including paraben)

Will I repurchase Loreal X-Tenso Care Intense Nutri-Reconstructor Masque:

No ways, never! And I would also like you guys to stay away from it.

Banjara’s Herbals Hibiscus Powder

Hello Everyone

Hope you all remember my DIY on hibiscus hair mask for hairfall. I love using hibiscus powder and especially the flower powder but sometimes it is difficult to find flowers to make powder. So I decided to order one pack of Banjara’s Herbals Hibiscus Powder for myself. And after using it for 2 weeks, here I am reviewing it for you guys.

Banjara Herbals Hibiscus Po Banjara’s Herbals Hibiscus Powder Review

Product Info: Hibiscus is used to prevent hair fall, thickening of hair & helps in treating baldness. Hibiscus is most effective and has been found in clinical trials that it not only stimulates glands but also increases the growth of hair.

Regular use of Hibiscus powder keeps hair soft and manageable. It is also useful in cooling along with hair growth. It has property of imparting dark color to hair. It is also useful in recurrent dandruff and scalp irritation.

Price: INR 95 for 100 gm

Banjaras Hibiscus Powder Banjara’s Herbals Hibiscus Powder Review

My Experience with Banjara’s Herbals Hibiscus Powder

We all know the benefits of Hibiscus powder for hair growth. For the hair, hibiscus is a gentle cleanser (slightly on the acidic side of neutral), and a conditioning herb that helps decrease hair shedding by strengthening and conditioning the roots, increases shine, creates volume, adds a reddish tint to the hair (more prominent on lighter hair), promotes hair growth, and helps with scalp disorders. It is also great as a gentle scalp scrub. Hibiscus increases the growth of hair by stimulating the glands.

The powder comes in a thick polythene cover packed in a cardboard box. I will transfer the powder into an airtight container as otherwise it is difficult to store it. The colour powder is slight reddish and becomes dark red when mixed with rose water/water. It is recommended to use this powder with rose water but I use it with curd (as in my DIY post). It gives great results, not only conditions my hair and also adds a nice shine to my hair.

Other ways of using the hibiscus powder include infusing it with essential oils and using it with vinegar as a final rinse.

Pros of Banjara’s Herbals Hibiscus Powder

• Herbal product.
• Very effective.
• For the quality and quantity the price is affordable.
• Makes hair soft and shiny with less effort.
• Definitely helps reducing the hairfall

Cons of Banjara’s Herbals Hibiscus Powder

Last Word: This is an excellent alternative to pure hibiscus flower powder. I would continue buying it. I just love how hibiscus benefits in such great ways. 6 Easy To Follow Hair Care Tips for Beautiful Hair

Hi all,

Someone recently asked me regarding how I take care of my hair. I won’t say I have as beautiful hair as Atika or Sahiba here at IMBB. But I have long fine thin hair. I do take care, but the my mantra is Keep it Simple Silly (KISS) :p

I list out some easy to do, easy to follow for all those working girls who need to manage their mane as well as their jobs-be it home or office. I’m not boring you with regular conditioner champi details.

honey-and-sesame-roasted-al

1. The one with eating almonds:

I know, you all are wondering what kind of tip is this. But trust me this is the best lotion/conditioner/treatment you can give to your hair. During winters you can sesame coated almonds. They are not only tasty but healthy too. I make sure that in summers I dip them into water and eat them (5 at least). Almonds have natural proteins & vitamin E which is good for hair and the skin.

2. The one with using Filtered Cold water:

I follow this since time immemorial. After shampoo/conditioner I use a bottleful of cold water (straight from the fridge) and just give a last rinse to my hair. This makes my hair cold, ultimately giving it a shine afterwards. Try this tip and you won’t regret. You may add rose water for some scent. Au naturel :p

3. The one with don’t tie your hair in the same way every day:

Hair-pulled-back

Yes, this one is a shocker; we all girls tend to do our hair in the same way, especially in terms of using clips in the same way like every day. This causes hair loss from that particular hair. Thus, leave your hair open whenever possible. Give them space to breathe!

4. The one with Primrose Oil capsule:

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The rich stores of essential fatty acids in evening primrose oil not only prevent nails from cracking but also help to keep them generally healthy. In addition, the essential fatty acids nourish the scalp, making the supplement potentially valuable in treating a variety of hair problems. This one is straight from the doctor, but I recommend that you must consult a doctor before taking any, since I faced thinning of hair.

5. The one with changing your pillow cover:

acne-treatment-change-your-pillow-case

Yes, this one acts as a two in one. I follow this to avoid my hair getting oily or causing my face to break out due to my hair leaving residue on the pillow case. This keeps the hair fresh and the dirt and grime away. Do try this one.

6.The one with eating green leafy vegetables:

Dark-green-leafy-vegetables

This is a winner tip. Ask any of the doctors, dieticians, google :p they will tell you about the benefits. I consume a lot of Spinach, fenugreek (methi), lettuce etc. It has two fold benefits, you mom will be happy plus hair will be shiny. Infact, it is also good for the skin. Leafy greens are full of vitamins, minerals, and disease-fighting photochemical. They also contain a lot of water, which helps keep you hydrated and contributes to beautiful skin and hair.

Amongst others, I also regularly find time to oil my hair (atleast once a week). I get a hair spa once a while. This keeps my hair hydrated and bad hair days at a bay. A trim once in 3-4 months is also necessary for maintaining length and healthy looking hair.

Hope you like these tips and incorporate them too. If you are wondering why I have titled by headings the way I have done here, those of you who are ardent fans of the American sitcom FRIENDS would know :D

Much love to all.
Take care.

Personal Care Blade Free Hair Remover Kit

We are presented with several options to remove unwanted hair and I find it too impossible for one not to try at least 2 among those options. Like myself, I am going through this search for the best hair removal process for me. This time I tried what seems to be the easiest. With depilatory creams, you just spread it on skin and wipe off right? Let me share with you how Personal Care Blade Free Hair Remover Kit worked for me.
Personal Care Blade Free Hair Remover Kit
From Personal Care Blade Free Hair Remover Kit Label:

Directions:

Remove clothing and jewelry from areas to be treated. Shake well and squeeze lotion into palm of hand. Smooth on thickly. Do not rub in. Wash hands immediately. Wait 5 minutes and then test area by wiping off lotion with blade free razor. For most women, hair will remove easily after 5 minutes. Ifhair comes off easily, gently remove hair with blade free razor and lukewarm water only. Do not exceed 15 minutes. Do not allow lotion to dry on skin. Keep bottle tightly closed when not in use.

Personal Care Blade Free Hair Remover Kit ingredients

Ingredients:

Water (Aqua), Cetearyl Alcohol, Petroleum Wax, Calcium Thioglycolate, Ceteareth-25, Zinc Chloride, Fragrance, Aloe Barbadensis Lead Juice. Kathon CG.

My Experience with Personal Care Blade Free Hair Remover Kit:

I got my Personal Care Blade Free Hair Remover Kit from Duty Free Philippines for a price I can’t remember exactly but around $2 to less than $ 3. But as I check this Personal Care product online, it is being sold for $1. That cheap! Anyways, Personal Care is a US brand and it has been in the industry for 30 years. They are known for producing good and affordable home and personal care products. I thought of trying this out with the hope it will work better than other methods I tried like shaving and waxing. I find the idea of depilatory creams being less time consuming, painless and easy,to sound so enticing to me. Plus the idea that its effect might last longer than shaving, I grabbed a tube.

Personal Care Blade Free Hair Remover Kit

The Personal Care Blade Free Hair Remover Kit comes in a 150grams, white squeeze tube. I like the packaging for it is makes application so fast and mess free as it dispenses just the right amount of product you need every time. The kit comes with a cute pink bladeless shaver which I find so useful even with honey waxes I use. The depilatory cream itself is white in color and is creamy in consistency like that of toothpaste. It is easy to spread on skin and has this burnt smell to it. I honestly do not like it but I think it is similar to other depilatory creams like that of Veet. Despite the unlikely smell, it does not sting and did not cause any irritations on skin.

Personal Care Blade Free Hair Remover Kit 3

I tried it on my legs and on my few first uses, I let it stand on my skin for 5 to 10 minutes tying on some few spots if hair would come off with the use of pink shaver. Sadly, this didn’t have effect on my hair. The next time I tried it for 13 to 14 minutes as it is in the label not to exceed 15 minutes. Well, same banana. I just don’t work. It was able to get so little amount of hair. I think just the ends of my hair strand which in effect made the hair on my legs appear shorter and thicker.

What I Like about Personal Care Blade Free Hair Remover Kit:

-Convenient packaging
-Ease of use
-Did not cause  irritations
-Affordability

spatula

What I Don’t Like about Personal Care Blade Free Hair Remover Kit:

-Smell
-Not effective at removing hair
-Availability

IMBB Rating:

1/5

Final Thoughts:

Selecting hair removal process that’s best for you may involve several trials and errors as well. I am glad there are reviews now easily available to us that cut the time on our selection process. I would really love to check reviews first prior to purchasing this one but I got not access to net by the time I am deciding whether to get this Personal Care Hair Remover or not. I am sorry but I have to say that this is a waste of money for me as it did not work at all. I am now back to shaving, that is if I am too busy and trying hard to squeeze in some time to wax.

Hygiene and Grooming Tips for Summers

One of the most effective ways we can protect ourselves from illness is by following a good personal hygiene regimen. Proper personal hygiene means taking care of every aspect of your body, from keeping it clean to looking your best.

childrenswimming

Here are few guidelines that can be kept in mind. Follow them according to your convenience as each person’s body is different. Some of us sweat more, some of us have oilier hair, some of us have sensitive skin etc. You may need to adjust some of the advice in this article to suit the way your body works.

Body Care: Go under water daily. Daily shower keeps you away from all those small diseases like flu, fever, headache and etc that could turn into big ones to affect your health. So do not skip your daily shower and keep yourself hygienic. Use a mild, non-scented soap if you have sensitive skin.

Wear clean clothes. Make a habit of changing your cloths daily especially in summers because we get sweat and our cloths get bacteria of it which makes us sick and keeps us unhealthy. So whether your cloths are clean or not, you must change them daily in order to stay fresh and neat.

Change your bed sheets once a week. Swap out your pillow case just as often, if not more. This will help reduce acne and the dreaded bacne.

Oral Care: To practice good oral hygiene, brush your teeth and your tongue two times a day, preferably after meals, with toothpaste that contains fluoride to prevent cavities from forming. Floss your teeth daily as well to prevent bacteria from getting stuck between your teeth and along your gumline.

Hand and Foot Care: Rules for hand hygiene help to prevent sickness as most infections, especially colds and gastroenteritis, are caught when we put our unwashed hands, which have germs on them, to our mouth.

Always cut your nails or if you want to have them large than keep them neat and clean. Fingernails should be trimmed straight across and slightly rounded at the top whereas toenails should be trimmed straight across. The best time to cut your nails is after bathing when they are soft and easy to trim.

Soaking your feet in half an inch of soapy runoff while standing in the shower doesn’t count as washing your feet. Get in there with a wash cloth and scrub your toes and the bottom of your feet. This will help you kick embarrassing foot fungus and other odorous or unsightly issues.

Hair Care: Good hygiene includes washing your hair and brushing it regularly to prevent dandruff and other scalp diseases.

Just follw these basic tips and stay protected from germs this summers!!

Richfeel Brahmi Hair Pack (6)

Ingredients:

Brahmi powder, amla powder, DC 939, glycerin, light liquid paraffin, stearic acid, glyceryl stearate and peg-100, preservatives and distilled water-qs.

Packaging:

Packaging is normal as we see for tubes.

My views on Richfeel Brahmi Hair Pack:

I was suffering from a bad hair loss from a month. As soon as I get up in the morning I find out few strands of hair lying on pillow. It might be because of the exams tension or weather change. I was so scared of getting bald so early. I was oiling my hair in fact every day to reduce hair fall.

Richfeel Brahmi Hair Pack (4)

One day while going to a pastry shop I saw Beauty palaze in Malad Mumbai, as soon as I entered my eyes fell on hair pack section (I am quite fond of using hair packs) I started looking for the products for hair fall control and then the SA came and started asking me about my hair problem, after explainin, she handed me a pack of RICHFEEL BRAHMI HAIR PACK and directed me about its uses. Now it’s almost been a month I have been using this product and I have mixed reviews about it.

It contains small particles and I think that is amla or brahmi powder.  Smell is unknown for me but not at all bad smell.

I used it for 2 weeks but could not see any difference it just made my hair softer. Then I thought why not experiment , Next day I mixed a spoon of curd and few drops of lemon in d pack mixed well and applied it on the hair section by section and there it worked, it but not fully, I am still facing hair loss but yes not as much as before.

Pros of Richfeel Brahmi Hair Pack:

• It makes hair softer.
• Not too pricey.
• Availability is not a problem.
• Made of natural ingredients, so no side effects.
• In a tube form so does not get messy.

Richfeel Brahmi Hair Pack (5)

Cons of Richfeel Brahmi Hair Pack:

• Lot of quantity is required as it’s not a liquid but a cream.
• Does not satisfy my expectations fully.
• Not for oily hair. (It’s mentioned on the pack that this can be used by all types of hair but I do not agree.)
• It’s not travel friendly.
• Can be used just 2-3 times for shoulder length hair.

Would I repurchase Richfeel Brahmi Hair Pack?

NOO!!!!

I would try something else rather.

Would I recommend Richfeel Brahmi Hair Pack?

If your hair is dry then yes you can think of using it.

IMBB Rating:

1.5 / 5 It is just for the softness.

Anne French Shea Surprise Convenience Hair Remover Kit

Hello Beauties,

Hair removal creams are one of the easiest and the most convenient way to remove unwanted hair. When I don’t really have time to wax, I use these creams but not often just like once in a month if needed. I also have an epilator but that takes more time and lot of effort as well and the hands start paining. I saw this ad recently about a new kit that Anne French released. I always get tempted by such ads and get the stuff. In fact this was something different that the other hair removal brands . So let’s see was this new release a hit or a miss.

Anne French Shea Surprise Convenience Hair Remover Kit (2)

Price:

Rs. 60 for the entire kit ( Hair remover cream, easy-on applicator and a skin-polishing sponge)

Product description:

Anne French tender care is a gentle depilatory cream with the goodness of real shea butter and aloe vera known for their skin benefits. This gentle formulation will make your skin upto 3 times softer after depilation. What’s more, it is so safe that it can be even used on the tender skin of a 14 year old girl. The fresh and soothing aroma of green tea will uplift your senses to make it a memorable experience.

Anne French Shea Surprise Convenience Hair Remover Kit (3)

My take on  Anne French Shea Surprise Convenience Hair Remover Kit:

I have just used those veet creams in the past and that too rarely when I am in urgency and don’t have even 20 minutes to use an epilator. This kit from Anne French is a new launch released I guess 2 weeks ago or something. This kit comes in a big pack with the 3 contents inside. The first is the hair removal cream tube, second is the easy-on applicator and the third a sponge to clean the cream. The cream tube is 3/4th the palm size and will cover up only one and a half hand, so you will actually need to buy one more for the other half hand. The consistency is pretty thick to spread evenly on the hair removal area and comes in a white colour. The fragrance is good and not irritating. It smells almost like those veet creams but just a little better. The contents are pretty easy to carry along. Now when actually using the cream, you need to take out the cap and attach the easy-on applicator to the top. As it has a small hole, so the needed product comes out. It is like you press it on the needed area and spread it with the applicator itself. It spreads very evenly as it had a slant tip applicator. And when you are done, wash the applicator and attach the cap back to the tube. I applied it on the entire hand together as I did not actually have time to wait for even 15 minutes because I waste all the time sleeping lol. The instruction says that it is supposed to be kept for 3 minutes. After 4 minutes I could actually see the hair losing up and become curvy which gives us a hint that they are supposed to be removed now.

Anne French Shea Surprise Convenience Hair Remover Kit (4)

I applied the wet sponge on the entire hand to remove the cream and the hair. It removed all the hair very effectively in just 4 minutes. Keep washing the sponge in between. I could notice a few hair that were not removed but what I did was it just needed a little more effort, so I rubbed the sponge in the opposite direction all my hands were all very squeaky clean without even a single hair. The cream did not sting my skin at all. It left my skin soft and I think that was because of the shea butter and it did not needed any moisturisation. And the entire process did not take much of my time. Overall, it is a very effective hair removal method and what I liked mainly is that this does not have a spatula. The spatula has a very pointy edge which causes rashes on skin and also develops red bumps after usage and nothing as such happened with this kit.

Anne French Shea Surprise Convenience Hair Remover Kit ingredients

Pros of Anne French Shea Surprise Convenience Hair Remover Kit:

-It is an entire kit for hair removal.
-The easy-on applicator is better than a spatula as the spatula is pretty pointed and causes bumps and red rashes on my skin.
-Affordable.
-Took just 4 minutes to remove all the hair effectively.
-Did not sting on my skin or did not even cause any bumps or so.
-Make skin soft after usage.
-Thick in consistency so spreads easily .

anne french

hair remover

Cons of Anne French Shea Surprise Convenience Hair Remover Kit:

-Hair grows out again in just one day because it does not remove the hair from roots.
-Two tubes will be needed for both arms.

Will I repurchase/recommend Anne French Shea Surprise Convenience Hair Remover Kit?

Ye,s I am going to get this but using this up is going to take a lot of time as I use them rarely and I will tell you guys to try it just once and compare it with the other creams as to which one you find  better.

Meera Shampoo with Kunkudukai & Badam

Hello Gorgeous!!

Today I will be reviewing a hair shampoo by Meera. I hope you all remember Jomol’s review on Meera Herbal Wash. I was really intrigued after that review. I ordered it finally, all thanks to Jomol. But with that herbal wash powder I also bought this liquid shampoo from the same range thinking that it would be equally good. Read on to know whether it is actually good or not.

meera-shampoo2

Product Info: Meera Shampoo with Kunkudukai and Badam is a natural and healthy means of haircare. The Shampoo is enriched with Kunkudukai, a traditional herbal ingredient which cleans the hair gently and ensures that the hair is made healthy and soft. Badam has been added to nourish the hair and make it stronger, thicker and shine with luster. This unique combination of kunkudukai and Badam is rich in protein and hence moisturizes and deeply conditions the hair strand by strand.

Price: INR 62 for 100 ml

My experience with Meera Shampoo with Kunkudukai & Badam

If you all are wondering what really kunkudukai is, it is nothing but reetha (Soapnut). And we all know the benefits of reetha for hair. Thinking the same I bought this shampoo. Starting with the packaging, the shampoo comes in a yellow sturdy plastic bottle with a red flip top cap. The shampoo has a nice thick gel consistency. It is light brown in color. It smells really nice & yummy and reminds me of green apples. :D

meera-shampoo

Now coming to the cleaning part, it cleanses my scalp really well. It gives me a squeaky clean feel everytime I wash it, maybe because it contains SLS!! Yes girls it contains SLS… *cry*. I had thought of it to be pure herbal solution but was very disappointed after reading the ingredients. It does contain extracts of Badam, shikakai and reetha but it is not a 100% natural product.

But although it contains SLS and other chemicals, it has not caused any kind of problem to my hair. Usually SLS causes hairfall, but with this shampoo my scalp did not shed even a single strand while washing. I use this shampoo once in a week, when I oil my hair and it removes all traces of oil efficiently, which an SLS-free shampoo cannot.

Pros of Meera Shampoo with Kunkudukai & Badam:

• Nice smelling
• Cleanses well
• Gives a nice squeaky feeling
• Removes oil and dirt efficiently
• Contains extracts of badam and shikakai
• Does not cause hairfall for me
• Affordable

meera-shampoo3

Cons of Meera Shampoo with Kunkudukai & Badam:

• Contains SLS and other harmful chemicals
• Availabilty might be an issue

Last Word: Overall this is a nice product and can be used as a clarifying shampoo once in a week. (Sometimes you do not get satisfaction using SLS-free shampoos). The brand has got many other variants to choose from.

Boots Seaweed Shampoo

Hello everybody!

I love shampoos. I keep on trying a lot of them ON-OFF with my HG shampoo. This is one of them. Seaweed instantly gives me a yuck kind of feeling, but then I thought let’s not judge the products just by its color.

Price: Rs. 200 for 600ML

Boots-Seaweed-Shampoo3

Claims:

• Suitable for all hair types
• Enriched with seaweed extract which helps soften and moisturize.
• Contains wheat germ oil –smoothens hair.
• No build up formula
• Hair is clean, soft and shiny over regular use.

Ingredients:

Boots-Seaweed-Shampoo5

My take on the Boots Seaweed Shampoo:

At first sight I hated it! I mean that evil green color was something I would never apply on my hair. And like many other times my mom was responsible for this buy! She just gets everything right, know why…

Packaging: A huge clear plastic bottle. I mean imagine fitting 600ML in a bottle. It has a flip cap opening which is also clear. The packaging is very minimalistic in terms of design.

Texture and fragrance: The shampoo is evil-alien green color. It reminds me of Khus juice. The consistency is not too runny, and it has a gel formula (I like gel formula shampoos). It smells like some herb with sweet syrup, it has a marine type of smell to it. But let me tell you this smell isn’t that bad. It is bad only when you use the wrong conditioner after it. Try to use a very mild fragranced conditioner after this shampoo. Else both the fragrances will have a sword fight and you’ll smell like some aquatic injured warrior (I’ve been reading a lot of books these days). It lathers well.

Boots-Seaweed-Shampoo2

The result: The shampoo does clean hair and removes excess of oil. It doesn’t build up and gets washed off properly. It did not cause any kind of irritation to scalp nor did it cause any hairfall. It makes hair soft and shiny. It also makes it bouncy to an extent, and doesn’t make hair limp. The fragrance is very over powering. It stays on for a long time, but then I’m not a fan of how it smells. All attempts to mask the fragrance have failed. But sincerely if you use the same range conditioner I don’t think your hair will smell funny. Over continued use, this shampoo has made hair better in terms of texture and shine.

Pros of Boots Seaweed Shampoo:

• Gel formula (means less hairfall)
• Cleans hair, softens, smoothens and induces shine.
• Doesn’t irritate skin.
• Doesn’t cause hairfall.
• Can be used for all hair types.
• Cheap
• No parabens

Boots-Seaweed-Shampoo

Cons of Boots Seaweed Shampoo:

• The smell
• Availability
• Bulky packaging.
• Contains SLES

Verdict: 4.5/5

Will I repurchase/recommend?

Yes, it is a very good shampoo for such a cheap rate. I mean I didn’t have lot of expectations from this shampoo but it turned out to be one of very good ones I have used. Plus it is paraben free.

Dabur Vatika Cactus Enriched Hair Oil Review

Hello Ladies,

Today, I will be reviewing Dabur Vatika Cactus Enriched Hair Oil.

Dabur+Vatika+Cactus+Enriched+Hair+Oil+Review

Product Description:

Exposure to harsh elements and hair treatments can weaken the hair root which increases hair loss.  Dabur Vatika Enriched Hair Oil Cactus contains nourishing extracts of Cactus, Garger and garlic.  The unique formulation provides power to your hair and scalp, helping to control hair loss.

  • With Cactus – helps prevent hair loss and hair shaft repair.
  • with Garger – helps feed the hair from root to tip.
  • with garlic – along with other ingredients to help hair loss control.

Dabur Vatika Cactus Enriched Hair Oil 3

Ingredients:

Paraffinum Liquidum, Canola Oil, Palm Oil, Olea Eurpoaea (Olive) Oil, Phenyltrimethicone, Parfum, Aloe Barbadensis (Cactus) Extract, Avobenzone, Eruca Sativa (Garger) Extract, Vitamin E Acetate, Rosemarinus Officinalis (Rosemary )Oil, Tert Butyl Hydro Quinone, Allium Sativum (Garlic) Extract, CI12740, CI61565.

Dabur Vatika Cactus Enriched Hair Oil 2

My Experience with Dabur Vatika Cactus Enriched Hair Oil:

I love this product. This hair oil has done wonders for my hair. My hair seems shinier, healthier and stronger with every use and hair fall has reduced considerably over time. It contains extracts of cactus, garger and garlic which seem to be working their magic.  This oil comes in a plastic packaging with screw top cap. There is a wide opening to the bottle which can lead to accidental spillage of oil. The packaging could have been so much better for such an amazing product.

Dabur Vatika Cactus Enriched Hair Oil 4

The oil is bright dark green in color which may look intimidating but it does not show up on hair, instead gives it a healthy shine.  The smell is quite nice and quite strong. This product is so heavily perfumed probably to mask the scent of the cactus, garger and ginger that it becomes overpowering. Such heavily perfumed products do not benefit hair in the long run.  This is not a very lightweight oil and goes give the hair that “greasy oily” look. So I have never used this oil if I have to step outside. Instead I apply it a couple of hours before I wash my hair and that seems to work for me. Overall, I would definitely recommend and buy this product again.

Dabur Vatika Cactus Enriched Hair Oil 5

Pros of Dabur Vatika Cactus Enriched Hair Oil:

  • Healthier, shinier hair.
  • Helps if you suffer from hair loss.

Cons of Dabur Vatika Cactus Enriched Hair Oil:

  • Very overpowering scent, heavily perfumed.
  • Packaging could have been better.

L’Oreal Professionnel Expert Smoothing Night Serum Review

Hi Guys,

So today, I am going to review a smoothing night serum by L’Oreal Professionnel.  I have dry and frizzy hair, so I thought maybe this product will help my hair situation.  Its an overnight, non-sticky serum for making your hair smooth and waking up to soft hair, at least that’s what I expected from this product.

L’Oreal+Professionnel+Expert+Smoothing+Night+Serum+Review

Product Description:

Smoothing night serum for unmanageable hair . A non-greasy gel cream that nourishes and conditions the hair fibre overnight for easier styling in the morning.  Polymer AR : envelops the hair to help protect against humidity.  Oil in cell : a combination of incell and nourishing oils ( olive + argan ) to soften , condition and enhance the texture of the hair fibre.

Directions For Use:

Spread 1 or 2 hazelnut sized amounts of product in the hand. Apply section by section to dry or damp hair in the evening. Do not rinse. Style as usual in the morning.

L’Oreal Professionnel Expert Smoothing Night Serum 2

Ingredients:

Aqua + glycerine +amodimethicone + hydroxypropyl + starch phosphate + cetearyl alcohol + trideceth – 5 + polyquaternium – 37 + prypelene + glycol dicaprate + trideceth 10 + olive fruit oil (finally something natural ! ) + argan oil + cocamidoprpylbetaine + ppg-1 trideceth – 6+chlorohexidne + digluconate + quaternium 87 + benzyl salicylate + butylhenylmythylpropional+glyceryllaurate+butylphenylmethylpropional + glyceryllauret + hexyl cinnamal + sodium hydroxide + citric acid + fragrance.

Packaging:

This hair smoothing serum comes in a shiny purple tube with a silver cap.  The lid on the cap opens up and one has to squeeze the tube gently to get the product out, easy to use.  The instructions and details are given on the back of the tube.

L’Oreal Professionnel Expert Smoothing Night Serum 3

Texture, Colour, and Fragrance:

The texture of the product is like gel mixed with cream, its not very creamy, more on the gel side, dries quickly.  The colour of the product is translucent white.  It has the typical smell which all the L’Oreal products have.  I feel it has a chemical fragrance which I have noticed in every L’Oreal hair product, I don’t like it much and I wish it would make my hair smell nicer.

Price:

INR 525 for 125 ml.

My Take on L’Oreal Professionnel Expert Smoothing Night Serum:

I have frizzy and dry hair and I wanted some serum to smoothen my roots and tips for easier styling, so I went ahead and purchased this product as it claims to do so.  To be honest, I expected much more from this product than it delivered.  It won’t really do any miracles on your hair overnight, I feel its just a normal de-tangling serum, at least that’s what it does to my hair.  I like the packaging and its easier to apply and store , I do not like the smell, its too chemically scented ( I don’t know if that makes sense but most of the L’Oreal hair products have that typical scent).  I usually take a little bit on my finger tips and apply it to my hair, mostly on the hair tips as they tend to get more dry.

L’Oreal Professionnel Expert Smoothing Night Serum 4

I used it as an overnight serum, but it didn’t seem to make much difference, so now I use it as a de-tangler whenever I want to remove knots and when I feel my hair is getting rough.  It does make your hair softer when you use it, like for the initial 1 – 2 hours, you would feel that your hair is less tangled than usual.  If you don’t like waking up with too many knots (I doubt anyone likes that :p), then you can go for this product and apply a little bit before hitting the bed, but don’t expect it to treat or nourish your hair.  A good serum for softening your hair if your hair gets too unmanageable, it’s a little bit expensive because I feel Livon does the same thing to your hair at a much cheaper price, its non-sticky which is a good part, won’t leave your hair oily, can be applied on damp as well as dry hair, I usually apply it on dry hair.

L’Oreal Professionnel Expert Smoothing Night Serum 6

Pros of L’Oreal Professionnel Expert Smoothing Night Serum:

  • Easy to apply.
  • Good packaging.
  • Softens hair to a certain extent.
  • Nonsticky.

Cons of L’Oreal Professionnel Expert Smoothing Night Serum:

  • Does not really treat hair like it claims to.
  • I personally don’t like the smell.
  • The softening effect does not last.
  • Expensive because it does not deliver that much.

IMBB Rating:

2.5/5

Hi everyone!

I have wavy hair, the kind which is like S shaped and not spirals. I recently ditched brushing and combing it (except for ONCE when I’m out of the shower, I comb through with a wide toothed comb) and I like the curls better however there is still a layer of frizz on top of it :( can u please tell me if I can co-wash such hair? And how to go about it? I do not have curly hair, just wavy S-shaped hair so am doubtful.
Please help out :)

Nair Hair Remover Sensitive Formula Gel Cream

Hello sweethearts,

Here is one more hair remover from my collection. I read a review about this brand on IMBB so I wanted to try this myself. I spotted this at the beauty shop and my Anne French kit that I bought was already over so I picked this one up to keep it to be on the safe side. Rather than getting those kits I decided to get a spray as I thought this would be more convenient.

Nair Hair Remover Sensitive Formula Gel Cream

Price:

Rs. 230 for 155 grams

Product description:

Nair hair remover sensitive formula is designed for smooth radiant skin. It is for legs, arms, underarms and bikini area. Not for use on the face.

Nair Hair Remover Sensitive Formula Gel Cream (5)

Directions for use:

To apply gel cream

• Dispense gel cream into palm of hand. Smooth on a thick even layer to cover hair. Do not rub in. Wash your hands immediately after application.
• Leave the gel cream for 3 minutes, then check a small area for hair removal. Total hair removal depends on hair thickness. If the hair does not wipe off easily after 3 minutes, leave the gel cream on a few minutes longer. Do not exceed 10 minutes of application.
To remove gel cream and hair
• Gently wipe off the gel cream and hair with a damp washcloth. Do not rub. Once all hair has been removed, rinse skin thoroughly with lukewarm water in the shower.
• Wipe off excess product from the dispensing nozzle
• Replace the cap when not in use

Nair Hair Remover Sensitive Formula Gel Cream (4)

My take on Nair hair remover sensitive formula gel cream:

I initially thought of trying something different from those hair remover creams that come in a tube. This hair remover gel cream comes in a spray bottle that is blue in colour and is very travel friendly and the cap also doesn’t come off the bottle so no worry of leakage at all. The whole lot of instructions are given behind the bottle so you know what exactly to do. You just open the cap there you get a dispensing nozzle. I thought that this would be very convenient to use but it was not. When you have a spatula you can spread the cream very evenly and in this case firstly when you press the dispenser, a lot of quantity comes out which might not even be needed for 1 underarm and this cannot be even evenly distributed with the fingers. It may happen that there is more cream on some part and less on some. Then you will have to ruin your fingers and as I have long nails it goes inside and sits there. Then immediately instructed to wash hands and then cleaning the nails.

The cream is thick is consistency and easy to spread on the hands. The smell is refreshing as well as connects to the spring essence they mention. It does not smell like those typical hair removal creams. I kept it on for like 6-7 minutes even if they said 3 minutes. And I washed off my hands and legs with a sponge. But what I could see is there were still some hair on my hands and legs which had not been removed effectively. Some of the hair has become twisted and curly because they just got half the reaction of hair removal. Like that I had to reapply the cream and a lot of product was wasted. My hands and legs felt smooth and not at all dry. They did look radiant but you know that hair on the legs are quite thick as compared to the hands. In this case, it left small black hair from the roots which look like the ingrown hair and you don’t actually get a clean waxed feeling because you can see those small hair peeping out and I couldn’t even wax them because they were very small. Overall I would that it is a good one as if kept for 10 minutes but if you remove it less than this time then you will not get the desired results but I can say I have used better products than this one.

No I don’t think so because there are many more products that are convenient to use like the Anne French kit that I reviewed and will not buy it again, I will just try finishing this up.

My Experience with Pantene Pro-V Anti Hair Fall Oil Replacement:

My first impression of this was that this product will give me the benefit of a leave in conditioner and benefit of hair oiling combined. Even though it does make hair more manageable and smoother when applied it has never really done any benefit to my hair in terms of combating dryness and helping with hair fall. I love the fact that there is no need to rinse this off as this would act as a protecting barrier on your hair against the styling and environmental damage.

It comes in a squeeze tube and the consistency of the product is just like a regular conditioner. You apply it all over hair after shampoo. It sinks right in your hair as the hair dries and you do not feel any residue. It does not impart an oily greasy look to your hair. It has sort of nice sweet scent. Not at all overwhelming when applied on hair.

It is a little pricier than normal hair oils and is filled with chemicals. So I won’t probably be buying this again.
